I know, it’s been quite a while. Here’s what’s been happening.
- First of all, I *have not* stopped mixing! Quite the opposite. Currently I only have access to laptop based DJing (though it emulates a Xone:92 so I have been playing with 4 Band EQ mixing).
- Second, I am currently living in Gothenburg, Sweden. I have been meeting several DJs and Producers in Europe and gaining a new perspective on mixing and producing. I am currently learning to produce, and soon will have quite a bit more time to play around with my keyboard. Also, I have been going to several huge european trance events (eg, Trance Energy) and this has been influencing my direction as a DJ.
- Third, Trancend will return! I am planning a new demo and probably a name change when I return to Australia. I aim to get bigger in the Brisbane dance scene and start fresh.
Stay tuned, I will post again in a few months time. In the mean time, you can listen to my September Demo still because I think it is my best work today and a true reflection of my live style.

I have been waaaay too busy with uni and the like. As a result I have not been mixing much, and I’m about to go overseas (away from decks!). Anyway, I’ve decided that I’m going to end Trancend and begin a new name - something I’ll work on while I’m in Sweden. The mixing style will be a little different too - something I’ll also work on.
Thanks to everyone for listening to my mixes! I’m going to do one more under this name in the next 2 weeks or so, stay tuned…

A bit of info about the new setup… I recently sold my CDJ-200s and bought a 15″ Macbook Pro. I’m switching to a Vestax VCI-100 when I go overseas (will have it next week) but for the moment I borrowed Loungetastic’s Edirol MIDI interface which I connected up to the DJM-800. I assigned a few knobs and a button to the Xone:92 filter in Traktor 3, ran the output of the DJM-800 through the laptop, and bam! Xone filter on a DJM!
You can hear me use it in the demo. Better than buying a VF-1

Thanks for listening, and I hope to see you all at rockas soon!

A new demo is coming in the next 7 days… I have about 30 new tracks, so be prepared
Also, I’m selling my CDJ200s. Going to be using Andy Harbin’s setup till the end of the year and then I’ll be changing to a laptop based setup for when I’m overseas. I’m asking $700 each, contact me if you’re interested.

Had an AWESOME night, thanks to everyone who came… Was a little different than what I expected playing in a club. Shame there wasn’t a big crowd, but you can’t really expect that at 8pm. I only made 1 mistake (so people tell me ;)) and I had a lot of fun doing it. My poor ears! You have to turn up the headphones pretty loud, but having closed ones isolate the noise quite well. Can’t wait to play again, will chase up gigs
Wonder where I’ll play next… I think I’ll print a whole bunch of demos and send them out.
Planning next demo to be in June/July… but maybe a set to keep you all happy sooner
We’ll see what happens - pretty busy with uni at the moment.

The time is nearing…
When: Saturday 5th May, 8pm
Where: Bedroom Bangers @ Rockafellas (opposite Brunswick St train station), Fortitude Valley
Come support me at my first live performance at a club! If you vaguely know me, come along! There will be an after party at my place whenever we decide to leave rockas. Entry for the night is $10, and you get to see me and a whole other load of DJs play for the first time…
It’d be cool if you could let me know if you’re coming.
See you all there!

Checkout my new profile pic done by Ringo:

New demo coming in approximately two weeks. Busy with uni at the moment, still playing multiple times a week though. Getting used to new equipment (see about page) and I’m in desperate need of blank CDs! About 60% of tracks selected for demo and performance, waiting on a few new track releases (ahem formalistik ahem formentera what ahem) and I need to get some new track names from the recent awesome radio sets that have been coming out.
Also, more info coming about my performance when I know about it. Hopefully the same time as the demo. Oh yeah I’ll be taking down every mix that was done before January when I release the April demo, so contact me if you want them after that.

Well there was no February mix, but with good reason!
I’ve decided my next demo will be in mid April, in time for me to make a few copies for Bedroom Bangers (May 5 - more info coming soon!). It will be at this time that I start to put my name out there a bit more, I’ve been making a few contacts and keeping my eye on a few events I’d like to play at.. The April demo will be the best yet and I want to give myself time to make something decent that I feel represents my project.
In other news, Andy Harbin has moved in with me and we are playing with a new setup, including top of the line Pioneer CDJs, EFX, DJM… I’ve never had a chance to play on club grade equipment so I’m taking a bit of a break from recording to master some of the tricks of the better gear.
Plenty of epic tracks coming out, some new remixes of old tracks have made their way into my collection and I should be showing them off soon. I’m also starting to plan my Bedroom Bangers set, and a few tracks like Aalto - 5 and Ecco - Intuition have concreted their way into my set ideas.
I get to see Sander Van Doorn at Future Music Festival on Saturday - hoping it will give me some inspiration for the harder side of my tech style.
Anyway thats it for now, more news about Bedroom Bangers will come soon (when I hear from AndyC) and I’ll keep everyone posted.
